Job Title: Design Engineer / Estimator

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

We are looking for a creative and technically skilled Design Engineer / Estimator to join a team developing high-quality, bespoke products, this role blends product design with commercial estimating.

Key responsibilities

Lead concept and detail design for new products, elevating them from equipment to furniture through considered form, materials and finishes
Prepare accurate cost estimates, bills of materials and quotes for bespoke and custom projects
Collaborate with sales, project management, production and suppliers to ensure designs are feasible, cost-effective and meet client requirements
Specify materials, finishes and fixtures with attention to aesthetics, durability and cost
Maintain design documentation, change control and costing records to support project delivery and profitability
Essential skills and experience

Proven experience in product design or as a Design Engineer
Strong CAD skills with the ability to produce detailed drawings and 3D models
Good understanding of materials, joinery/fabrication techniques
Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to balance aesthetics with manufacturability and cost
Strong communication skills and experience working directly with clients, suppliers and production teams
