Senior Embedded Software Engineer


Hybrid working - 3x days onsite + 2x days remote

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer within the company you will be responsible for implementation of software to:

control electromechanical fluidic systems;
carry out data manipulation and processing;
interface across a wider system.

Day to Day responsibilities will primarily be:

Develop real-time embedded software
Use and contribute to internal platform repositories
Participate in code and design review activities
Documenting software requirements and implementation
Developing test specifications and building test rigs
Liaise with other departments and a network of experienced service providers
Work with senior management to ensure timely completion of project deliverables
On-time provision of documentation as required

Must haves:

Excellent programming skills using C for real-time embedded systems
Experience with standard buses and protocols (e.g. USB, RS232, I2C, SPI)
Ability to debug system problems involving firmware and hardware using test equipment e.g., oscilloscope, logic analyser, etc.
Ability to read and understand device documentation e.g., datasheets, errata, etc.
Ability to read and follow hardware schematics and drawings
Ability to effectively communicate technical subject matter
Ability to write libraries for various components and sensors

Desirable skills:

ARM Cortex-M MCU's
Real-time operating systems (e.g. FreeRTOS)
Wireless protocols (e.g. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa, RFID)
Tools such as Python/Matlab/Octave/Simulink
Experienced in low-power techniques, preferably on battery-powered systems
DSP algorithm development


£45k to £52k basic salary

37 ½ hour week - flexible working patterns will be considered
