Town Planner

Location: Manchester

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a dynamic and forward thinking planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their growing team in Manchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Town Planner to join an established consultancy, working across a range of planning projects while gaining exposure to both independently managed schemes and larger, team-led developments. The successful Town Planner will play a key role in delivering high-quality planning services and supporting the continued growth of the business.

The Role

As a Town Planner, you will be responsible for managing smaller projects while supporting the delivery of larger, more complex schemes alongside senior team members.

You will work closely with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders, contributing to projects from early stages through to completion, while developing your technical expertise and professional experience as a Town Planner.

Key Responsibilities

Project managing smaller planning projects, including preparing project plans with key deliverables and milestones

Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

Supporting Project Managers on larger projects and completing key tasks

Preparing high-quality reports and first draft documentation

Attending and contributing to internal and external meetings

Engaging with clients, Local Planning Authorities, and other stakeholders

Organising and participating in statutory consultations

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date project documentation

Supporting business development and attending networking events

Contributing to the overall delivery of the business strategy

Candidate Requirements

Relevant undergraduate degree and RTPI accredited postgraduate qualification

Chartered Member of the RTPI (or close to submission)

Experience within a planning consultancy or similar environment

Strong ability to manage tasks efficiently and meet deadlines

Ability to develop solutions to planning and policy-related challenges

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to understand and implement project strategies effectively

Proactive approach to professional development and career progression
