Organise, coordinate, and supervise all mechanical plant operations and maintenance activities.
Oversee the efficient operation of the Coal Handling and Processing Plant (CHPP).
Manage water reticulation systems, including pump installation and maintenance from Lake Kariba to the township and power plant.
Execute and manage engineering projects and fabrication work.
Coordinate closely with the Mining Department to ensure equipment is available and operational.
Lead preventive and emergency maintenance across crushers, conveyor belts, screens, pumps, silos, thickeners, and other plant infrastructure.
Monitor plant performance, budgets, and drive continuous improvement in reliability and efficiency.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and statutory responsibilities.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment, ensuring hazard identification and risk mitigation.
Report accurately on plant status, maintenance work, and project progress.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems used in coal processing (e.g. crushers, conveyors, thickeners, magnetic separators, lime dosing, dense media cyclones).
Expertise in water supply infrastructure, pump operations, and maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and implement long-term solutions.
Strong leadership, team coordination, and project management capabilities.
Proficient in MS Office and design/planning software.
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
Ability to lead and build high-performing teams, especially in technical environments.
