* Reporting into the Board, leading on P&L knowledge, growth and general operations performance

* Prepare, clearly communicate and monitor the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, revenues maximised, margins achieved and overheads controlled

* Enhancing the company's processes, procedures and standards

* Commercially helping to grow the company through implementing successful strategies and strategically helping with the growth of new work

* Leading by example with high levels of morals and work ethics

* Develop and maintain in-depth industry knowledge so that the company keeps up to speed with market trends and changes

* Drive the recruitment, retention and performance of appropriately skilled Directors, helping to maintain a team of motivated, engaged and highly trained staff

Relevant Experience & Traits

Suitable candidates are likely to have the following backgrounds:

* Proven Managing Director backgrounds of successfully running and growing consultancy businesses - ideally the environmental field but it could be more general in building or transportation consultancy markets for example

* Significant senior/management, Board or Divisional board level experience overall

* Solid understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques

* Excellent Leadership, communication, organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills

* Excellent relationship building and client management skills

* Ability and willingness to take a “hands-on” approach and to drive project completion when required

* Strong commercial skills when it comes to understanding P&L, balance sheets and working with an FD on running financially sound businesses

* Decisive, driven, articulate and clear strategic thinker

* A track record of enhancing company performances and cultures

* Ideally passion for the environment and net zero - therefore, genuine interest to work within a consultancy business such as this
