Job Role: Manual Turner

Location: Wakefield, WF1

Shift: Days regular

Salary: £13.50 - £14.50ph dependant on experience

Metalis is currently working with a well-established manufacturing company who have multiple sites, who are involved in the manufacturing of equipment and components. The company are looking to hire a Days regular Manual Turner on a 12-week temporary to permanent contract.

Job Role:

Take responsibility for understanding and adopting the relevant quality procedures
Machine a range of carbon steels i.e., EN3, EN16, EN24 and machine stainless steel grades 304 & 316
Actively pursue continuous improvements and machining methods/techniques, making recommendations for implementation when appropriate
Ensure all machinery and equipment is adequately maintained and regularly checked for lubrication etc.
Take care of company measuring equipment and report on any defective or out of calibration item
Ensure all lifting and transportation equipment is used in the approved manner
Take appropriate care of machinery, jigs, fixtures, tooling during day-to-day machine operation
Provide cover for other duties and help in other areas
Maintain tidiness in the workplace and good general standards of housekeeping, specifically removal of swarf from machine table/bed and maintaining a high standard in the machining area
Actively support quality, environmental and health & safety policies

Job Requirements:

Ability to use manual measuring equipment
Capable of reading and understanding engineering drawings
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Ability to initiate new ideas/innovations where required
Working within an engineering environment
Experience of operating manual lathes

Shifts & Salary:

37 hours a week
8am to 4.30pm, with half an hour lunch break, Monday to Thursday
8am to 1pm, Friday
£13.50 - £14.50ph
