Finance Assistant

The Finance Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of the finance function, supporting the Corporate and Funds side of the business, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions. The role will also assist with month-end, quarterly reporting, and ad-hoc activities to support the wider business.

You will work closely with the Finance team to help ensure the smooth running of core finance processes, maintaining high levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger


· Manage the finance inbox and coordinate incoming supplier invoices


· Maintain accurate records of all purchase invoices


· Prepare payment schedules for approval


· Maintain the purchase ledger within Sage


· Process bank payments


· Reconcile supplier accounts and investigate discrepancies


· Liaise with suppliers regarding payment terms and outstanding balances

Income and Debtors


· Raise sales invoices in a timely manner


· Maintain income and debtor tracking spreadsheets


· Support credit control activities and debtor analysis

Expenses


· Support and oversee the expense management system (SAP Concur)


· Review and analyse company credit card transactions monthly


· Process personal expense reimbursements


· Manage the recharging of expenses to portfolio companies

Cashflow and Banking


· Update weekly cashflow forecasts for review


· Process bank transactions within Sage


· Prepare regular bank reconciliations

Month-End Close


· Review nominal ledger activity to identify errors, omissions, or required corrections


· Prepare fixed asset, accrual, and prepayment journals for review


· Prepare income accrual journals for review


· Update the cashflow model with monthly movements

Other ad hoc tasks


· Preparing announcements for the London Stock Exchange


· Preparing documents for inclusion within Board Papers


· Assistance in various part of fund cycles and collation of fund data

Skills and Experience


· Previous experience using Sage and strong Excel skills are essential


· High level of attention to detail and accuracy


· Strong written and verbal communication skills


· Effective time management with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines


· Proactive and able to work independently
