Overview
We are recruiting a Senior Programme Delivery Manager to join a high-profile and sensitive government programme within the Water Delivery Group Delivery Centre.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for managing delivery demand, initiating IRPs and Discovery phases, and overseeing multiple Delivery Managers across complex workstreams.
You will act as the primary escalation point, ensuring delivery remains on track, within budget, compliant with required standards, and aligned to strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage incoming demand and oversee initiation of IRPs and Discovery phases
- Provide leadership and oversight to Delivery Managers across multiple projects
- Ensure all workstreams remain within agreed budgets and timelines
- Act as the main escalation point for delivery risks and issues
- Maintain strong adherence to Government and Defra standards
- Engage and influence senior stakeholders across technical and non-technical teams
- Coach and mentor Delivery Managers to drive high performance
- Ensure delivery momentum across complex, high-risk programmes
Essential Experience
- Significant experience delivering complex, high-risk digital products and services
- Strong background operating within Government / Defra standards
- Proven leadership of Delivery Managers across multiple workstreams
- Expert-level Agile delivery capability
- Strong supplier and commercial management experience
- Financial oversight and budget accountability
- Excellent communication skills, bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience across the full product lifecycle (Discovery through Live)
