Growing Transportation & Engineering Business

Due to continued growth and the decision to bring HR in-house for the first time, we are recruiting an experienced HR Manager to join a growing organisation in this newly created, standalone role. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident, capable HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and enjoys building HR foundations from the ground up.

With a workforce of around 500 employees—including drivers, mechanical teams, and fabricators—you will play a pivotal role in shaping our people strategy, supporting managers, and ensuring we continue to grow in a compliant, people-focused way.

About the Role

As our HR Manager, you will take ownership of the full HR function, providing expert guidance across all areas of people management. You will work closely with operational leaders to upskill managers, strengthen HR capability, and embed consistent, legally compliant practices across the business.

This role offers the scope to design, develop, and elevate HR processes, supporting our continued expansion—including the opening of a new depot.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all HR activity as the standalone HR expert

• Build and implement effective HR processes, policies, and frameworks

• Coach and upskill managers on people management, ER, and legal compliance

• Drive and deliver the company's people plan

• Support organisational growth, including workforce planning and change activity

• Provide hands-on support across ER, recruitment, onboarding, performance, and development

• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and best practice

• Act as a trusted partner to the leadership team

About You

We're looking for an experienced HR professional who is confident operating independently and enjoys creating structure in a growing business. You'll be pragmatic, approachable, and able to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.

You will bring:

• Strong generalist HR experience, ideally within a fast-paced or operational environment

• Excellent knowledge of UK employment law

• Confidence in coaching and developing managers

• The ability to build credibility quickly and work with a diverse workforce

• A proactive, solutions-focused approach
