Lead E&I Engineer

Newcastle Upon Tyne

Salary: up to £65,000 basic + benefits

Jackson Hogg is delighted to be working with a leading engineering consultancy to bring a Lead E&I Engineer to take ownership of Electrical & Instrumentation delivery across complex engineering projects.

This is a permanent, full time on site role based in Newcastle.

Lead E&i Engineer Key Responsibilities:

*

Lead the delivery of the E&I scope to agreed time, cost, and quality targets

*

Provide technical and people leadership to E&I engineers and designers

*

Own E&I engineering schedules, deliverables, and progress reporting

*

Manage E&I manhour budgets, resourcing levels, and workload planning

*

Ensure all E&I designs comply with legislation, industry standards, and client specifications

*

Control and manage scope change in line with formal change management procedures

*

Maintain technical integrity and accuracy across all E&I deliverables

*

Participate in and contribute to HAZID, HAZOP, safety, and design reviews

*

Provide guidance on hazardous area installations, including ATEX compliance

*

Ensure all documentation is checked and approved in line with company procedures

*

Support tendering activities, including scope definition and CTR generation

*

Coach and develop Engineers, Graduates, and Trainees within the discipline

Lead E&I Engineer Key Requirements:

*

HNC or higher in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering

*

Significant experience delivering E&I engineering on Oil & Gas brownfield projects (Feasibility, Concept, FEED, EPC)

*

Proven experience leading E&I engineering teams on projects

*

Strong working knowledge of industry codes, standards, and legislation

*

Experience with manhour control, cost awareness, and change management

*

Solid understanding of hazardous area design and ATEX directives

*

Experience contributing to HAZOP, HAZID, and constructability reviews

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

*

Strong commercial awareness and ability to operate at project leadership level

Desirable

*

Degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering

*

Chartered status (CEng / MIET)

*

SIL experience

*

Offshore experience and/or offshore survey exposure

*

BOSIET certification
