Human Resources Director (San Francisco Office)

The location of this position is at 60 Haight St, San Francisco, CA 94102


Our ministry has an immediate need for an HR Director. We employ approximately 300 staff worldwide. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer and work with the Executive Leadership Team and branch leadership to administer systems that contribute to our missional effectiveness and promote a healthy organization. Additional responsibilities include overseeing the hiring process, benefits administration, annual performance reviews and compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements and procedures. · Serve as a link between leadership and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering policy and helping to resolve problems

· Advise leadership on organizational policy matters and recommend needed changes

· Analyze and modify compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements

· Oversee the evaluation, classification and rating of occupations and job positions

· Administer compensation, benefits and performance management systems

· Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefits

· Perform staffing duties and administering disciplinary procedures

· Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices

· Conduct exit interviews

· Prepare and follow budgets for personnel operations

· Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates

· Work with Executive Leadership to analyze training needs and to design employee development programs

· Work with Executive Leadership to prepare personnel forecast to project employment needs

· Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinate

· Other duties and responsibilities as assigned


· Knowledge of laws, principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and negotiation, and personnel information systems

· Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

· Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. Ability to communicate plan strategies that will positively influence the level of acceptance of organizational changes

· Knowledge of principles of change management with focus on the employee side of change, including changes to business processes, systems and technology, job roles and organization structures

· Knowledge of human behavior and performance, individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; and learning and motivation

· Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, systems and terminology (word processing, email, HRIS systems, record and file management, designing forms)


· Supervise Human Resources Administrator (1 FTE)


· This position operates in a typical office environment with business-casual attire. The role requires routine use of computers, phones and copiers


· Most worktime is spent sitting or standing at a computer desk

· Regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms

· Occasionally required to lift office products and supplies, not to exceed 20 lbs.


· Full time M-F 8am-5pm

· May require occasional evening or weekend work

· Exempt


· Minimal travel required to offsite events


· Required education: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field

· Preferred education: Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field

· Ten or more years of prior experience in Human Resources

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, ADP, Paycom or comparable HRIS system

· Nice to have: Prior familiarity with Jews for Jesus and/or non-profit experience
