Full time / Full time

Temporary to Permanent (3 months' supply with a view to move onto a permanent school contract following the successful completion of your probation period)

Salary: £120 / £170 per day dependant on experience

Simply Education is working with a local pupil referral unit in Northamptonshire. They are looking to appoint a Maths teacher to support their amazing students who find mainstream education challenging. If you have experience teaching children or young adults, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

As a Primary Teacher will be responsible for delivering a high quality of teaching and learning to a group of key stage 3 and 4 students with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders and mental health needs. Students may present challenging behaviour so having the ability to adapt teaching style and using positive behaviour management is key. Your focus will be on increasing academic and vocational qualifications and knowledge, whilst achieving independent living skills that will equip young people for the next stage in their lives, be that further education, training, or work.

This outstanding PRU school is a Key Stage 3 and 4 Pupil Referral Unit supporting students, families, and schools across Halton. They teach the same National Curriculum and offer the same level of qualifications as a mainstream school. They also support pupils to address their emotional and behavioural barriers to learning. The school provides students with opportunities for qualifications, learning, new experiences, self-exploration, developing citizenship and being a positive member of our communities.

Potential Teachers must be passionate about contributing to the life outcomes of the students they support. The school values education as the core of their approach and as such the quality of our teaching and the environment of our classrooms and school is a point of pride. Their educational approach takes in the importance of core learning in English, Maths and Science but also places great weight on personal growth, particularly the emotional resilience we develop and the social skills we practice.

Key duties:

Contribute to the delivery and development of the national curriculum and having a regard to the educational, physical, and social needs of the students within a learning environment.

Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Maintain and use short-, medium- and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
Set, monitor, and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each- individual.

Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.

Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.

Qualities Required for the Teacher Position:

Essential: PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training

To be able to confidently deliver lessons

Ability to work as part of team.

Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students' progress.

Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.

Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.

Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships

All registrations are dependent on 2 years of satisfactory references and an Enhanced DBS Check.
