Location: Bedford
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-6:00pm (40 hours per week)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Earning Potential: £42,000-£48,000 (pro rata for a 48-hour week, including overtime)

A well-established commercial vehicle workshop in Bedford is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their growing team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a rare 4-day working week, providing an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking to improve work-life balance while continuing to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Perform maintenance, servicing, and repair work on HGVs and a variety of commercial vehicles

* Use diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve faults

* Ensure all work meets DVSA and manufacturer standards

* Prepare vehicles for MOT testing

* Accurately complete job cards, inspection sheets, and compliance documentation

* Liaise with workshop supervisors to ensure timely completion of tasks

* Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment

Candidate Requirements

* Level 3 NVQ or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance (or time-served experience)

* Proven background in HGV servicing, diagnostics, and repair

* Familiarity with brands such as DAF, Scania, Iveco, Mercedes, and Volvo is desirable

* Experience with MOT preparation; IRTEC accreditation is advantageous

* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities

* Team player with a proactive, solution-focused mindset

* Full UK driving licence (HGV Class 1 or 2 is an advantage)
