The Opportunity
We're supporting a well-established SaaS business with a global customer base in the food sector as they scale their engineering leadership team. This newly created Head of Engineering position is a key strategic hire as the company embarks on ambitious product growth, platform innovation, and continued international expansion.
This is an opportunity to lead and mentor a growing cross-functional development team while remaining technically hands-on, helping to shape architectural direction and product delivery across multiple workstreams.
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of backend and full-stack engineers across multiple product areas
- Define and uphold engineering standards, architectural direction, and delivery discipline
- Support product innovation by contributing to front- and back-end design and development
- Guide the use of .NET and modern JavaScript libraries to build scalable, componentised front-end solutions
- Promote best practices across the SDLC including CI/CD, testing, security, and performance
- Partner closely with principal engineers and commercial teams to align development with business priorities
- Foster a collaborative, feedback-driven engineering culture
Essential Experience
- 5+ years in software engineering leadership roles, ideally with full-stack delivery experience
- Strong experience in the Microsoft tech stack (.NET, C#, SQL Server)
- Experience with front-end frameworks, JavaScript libraries, and responsive design principles
- Background in SaaS platforms, DevOps tooling, and cloud infrastructure
- Proven ability to scale and mentor engineering teams while remaining close to the code
- Comfortable translating business needs into actionable, pragmatic technical plans
