Acorn is recruiting a Buildings Surveyor for a large public sector company based in South Wales. The Buildings Surveyor will act as part of a Building Maintenance team, undertaking the planning and management in relation to the company buildings and maintenance management. This role will be 3-6 months but could be longer for the right candidate.

The Buildings Surveyor will be responsible for all surveying aspects in relation to buildings maintenance, like planned preventative maintenance, cyclical maintenance and responsive repairs all whilst co-ordinating and managing external contractors. These tasks must be carried out in compliance with new and existing legislation, requirements and Health and Safety policies ensuring a compliant and safe working environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reactive (Day to Day) Maintenance - issuing of orders and approval of post measures work against National Schedule of Rates
Roof leaks, rain water goods - gutters / downpipes, faults associated with doors / windows, including ironmongery.
Building condition surveys - commercial type buildings such as Schools / HFE's / Offices / Industrial Units. Information gather from site survey and inputted to Technology Forge Asset software system
Small works ranging from £15k to £350k - pre project survey / design / pre-tender cost estimate of multi-discipline work / preparation of tender documents / contract administration
Refurbishment in schools - roof repairs / replacement, classroom remodelling/change of use (ICT suites / science labs), toilet/kitchen refurbishment, windows / doors replacement
Small extensions - up to £350k
Mobile/portable classroom units - Portacabin / Wernick type.
Planning and Sustainable drainage applications
Ecology survey procurement - BATSThe Buildings Surveyor will also produce periodic reports to demonstrate operational performance and monitor compliance.

The successful candidate will be on £33k, 37hrs per week.
