Reed are seeking a dedicated Legal Cashier to manage the financial transactions for a client law firm. This role is crucial in acting as a specialised bookkeeper, ensuring accurate financial activity recording, maintaining client and office accounts, and adhering to legal regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Client Account Management: Maintain client ledgers, process client receipts and payments, and ensure accurate reconciliation of client accounts.
  • Office Account Management: Manage the firm's business account, handle banking functions, petty cash, and process payments for disbursements.
  • Financial Recording and Reporting: Enter financial transactions into the accounting system, prepare invoices, and generate reports on time recording, debtors, and WIP (Work in Progress).
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to relevant regulations.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Regularly reconcile client and office bank accounts.
  • Payroll and VAT: Process payroll, VAT returns, and other tax-related matters.
  • Payment Processing: Handle various payment methods, including CHAPS, BACS, and electronic payments.
  • Credit Control: Manage credit control procedures and debt recovery.
  • Financial Reporting: Produce financial and management reports.
  • Supporting the Team: Provide support to other team members, including reception and other administrative tasks.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with changes in legal accounting practices and regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all financial transactions.
  • Organised and efficient in managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with fee earners, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve accounting issues.
  • Ability to work independently, managing workload and prioritizing tasks with minimal supervision.
