Financial Controller

Peterborough (Fully Office Based)

Up to £100,000 + future bonus (up to 20%)

Veracious Talent Partners are supporting a PE-backed organisation in Peterborough with the appointment of a Financial Controller.

This is a high-impact role within a growing, asset-backed business, offering the opportunity to operate at both a detailed technical level whilst also acting as a true business partner to senior leadership.

You’ll be joining at a key stage of growth, where the finance function is evolving alongside the wider business, requiring someone who is comfortable getting into the detail, whilst also stepping back to provide strategic insight and direction. A significant part of the role will involve leading and supporting a number of ongoing and upcoming projects, with a particular focus on capex-led initiatives across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading month-end close and delivering accurate, insightful management reporting
• Ownership of statutory reporting, audit and financial compliance
• Maintaining strong balance sheet control, including capex and project accounting
• Taking a lead role on capex-heavy projects, supporting delivery, tracking spend and ensuring financial control
• Driving improvements across systems, processes and financial controls
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
• Partnering closely with senior management, providing commercial insight and decision support
• Playing a key role in building a scalable, best-in-class finance function

This role will suit someone who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment and can balance strong technical capability with commercial awareness and stakeholder engagement.

The successful candidate will:

• Be ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
• Have experience operating at Financial Controller level
• Bring strong technical accounting expertise alongside a hands-on approach
• Be comfortable working in detail whilst also influencing at a senior level
• Previous experience within a PE-backed environment is highly desirable
• Experience within infrastructure, construction or asset-heavy organisations would be highly advantageous
• Have experience working on capex-intensive projects or within project-led environments

This is a fully office-based role to enable close collaboration with operations and senior leadership.

A bonus scheme is expected to be introduced from 2027, offering up to 20% additional earning potential.
