We have an exciting opportunity for a STEM Camp Practitioner to join our week-long STEM Holiday Camp from Monday 13 – Friday 17 October 2025. This year's theme, in keeping with the Halloween season, is 'How to Survive a Zombie Apocalypse'!
This unique and thrilling camp, held in the Chemistry Department at George Watson's College, welcomes children of varying abilities from P7 to S2, from both our school and the wider Edinburgh Community. We believe STEM should be fun, accessible and engaging for all children. If you are passionate about hands-on learning and making STEM come to life, we want to hear from you.
Hours of work will be 35 hours per week, 8:30am – 4pm (including a 30 minute unpaid break).

Main Responsibilities: As part of a dedicated team, you will support our Camp Leader in delivering fun, engaging, and inclusive lessons and activities. Your primary duties will include:
- Delivering pre-planned activities and lessons for children with a wide range of abilities.
- Ensuring a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment for all children.
- Supervising and engaging with children during activities, breaks and mealtimes to ensure they feel welcomed and included.
- Supporting the smooth daily operation of the camp, including setting up learning spaces and managing registration and sign-out procedures.
- Attending team meetings to ensure seamless coordination.
The successful candidate will be required to complete mandatory training in health and safety, child protection, and fire safety, with all materials provided in advance.

Ideal Candidate: We are seeking a candidate with a genuine passion for STEM subjects and education. The ideal applicant will have:
- Previous experience working with children and young people
- A qualification or be working towards a qualification in childcare, education and a STEM-related diploma or degree.
- The ability to deliver fun and structured activity sessions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Contract Type: Short term contract from Monday 13 – Friday 17 October 2025
Salary: The salary for this position will be in the Grade 2 range of £27,090 - £30,231 (based 36.25 hours, 52 weeks) which equates to £502 - £561 per week (based on a 35 hour week).
