The Pharmacist Manager is responsible for the provision of Healthcare services and is accountable for Pharmacy operating standards and for the performance of the branch in which they work. Promote the presence of our Society in the local community, and generate loyal customers. The post holder will ensure that all General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Ethical requirements are met and will take responsibility for the standards throughout the branch. Maintain a business focus throughout demonstrating sales and performance to maximise revenue.

Occasionally situations may arise that require the post holder to perform other duties or tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Society.

- Ensure that all relevant legislation is adhered to, taking responsibility for the maintenance of ‘What Good Looks Like’’ standards throughout the branch. Relate this to the need for the highest standards of presentation and cleanliness throughout the branch, and maintaining clear and uncluttered areas at all times.
- Deliver and maximise the revenue from all available essential, advanced and enhanced services ensuring that all claims for revenue are made promptly and submitted for payment according to the Local Service Level Agreements.
- Ensure full compliance with the Group promotional programme and adherence to Planogram guidance throughout the branch. Uphold the legal requirements for pricing and date checking confirming that the completion of cleaning and date checking records is up to date.
- Deliver outstanding Customer Service making every contact count, recognising the importance of putting ‘People First’
- Monitor colleague compliance with the requirement to ask for the Membership card at all transactions. Actively promote Membership of the Society. Explain membership benefits across all groups to customers.
- Maintain and develop operational standards, directing the day to day activity of the branch team. Facilitate training of team members through coaching and mentoring, an awareness of targets to be met, and the content of course materials.
- Communicate and work with other healthcare professionals both internally and externally. Develop professional contacts with local surgery staff. Meet regularly with the Practice Manager and GP to discuss items of mutual interest and work to support effective collaboration for the mutual benefit of all stakeholders with the care of patients the priority for all.
- Have responsibility for managing the performance of all the team. Utilise all MDP skills to manage and develop colleagues.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to share any business or personnel issues that may affect the branch operation.
- Take personal responsibility for their own Continuing Professional Development (CPD), recording entries regularly on the site. Comply with all requirements of the Healthcare e-learning programme and ensure that all team members complete the required modules according to the schedule provided.
- Operate within the regulations of the GPhC to provide current, reliable advice regarding medications. Actively promote additional advice/information that will further enhance the well being of the customer and so promote the reputation of Co-operative Healthcare.
- Take responsibility for maximising the sales and profitability of the branch. Monitor achievement against key performance indicators. Update all team members about performance. Actively work to identify and address shortfalls against the key indicators, explaining to team members how they are able to influence achievement in the specific areas. Recommend or take advice regarding improvement plans or actions.
- Ensure that the End of Month paperwork and submission to the PPD is promptly and accurately completed and the FP34C paperwork exactly reflects all Prescription Data Capture entries and that all processed re-submissions and other paperwork is included
- Ensure that all Electronic Prescription Service (EPS) work is handled promptly and professionally. Patient data accurately maintained and claims processed daily. Treat Smartcards with the utmost regard to security and ensure they are never left in the PC overnight.
- Maintain a business focus that monitors competitor activity discussing with the branch team proposals to improve provision of our services to meet and overcome such challenges.
- Understand the local community and the needs of the local population. Promote membership of the Society, encouraging member engagement and two way consultations through development of local Member Engagement Groups – responding positively to their suggestions and recommendations. Explore opportunities for volunteering in the local community, raising the profile of Co-operative Healthcare and actively supporting healthcare and healthy living advice in the community through community activities.
- Maintain an awareness of developments that could impact on the business and the provision of services. Work towards accreditation to deliver appropriate local services and demonstrate results through positive outcomes.
- Demonstrate a positive ‘can do’ philosophy within the branch – leading by example, and prioritising workload to achieve results to meet deadlines.
- Actively contribute to and promote the delivery of outstanding customer service. Obtaining and maintaining a good CLI score, learning from all reports and working with the branch team to develop actions to strive for perfection.
- Ensure the strict adherence to guidelines that govern branch operations both professional and operational. This includes SOPs – implementation and review; What Good Looks Like; Cleaning, Stock rotation, price and date checking; Fridge temperature records; PMR backups; Team compliance with all Healthcare process initiatives. Ensure full cooperation to meet the deadlines for any communication requests: e-mails, product recalls; drug alerts; audits; data capture responses etc.
- Prepare for, embrace and support the implementation of change, planning for the future and continued success of the branch.
- Follow the Society’s Health and Safety Policy – having personal awareness of the health and safety of themselves and of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions at work.
- Display high personal standards at all times – comply with the society dress codes, attend work in good time to commence your working day, always work to the best of your ability, taking responsibility for all your actions, and avoid apportioning blame.
- Handle all society assets with care – following the correct processes for use, and promptly reporting any problems. Handle all cash with accuracy. Ensure cash security is a priority and the relevant manager is notified promptly of any discrepancies of concern.
- Demonstrate strict adherence to the need for data protection and patient confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure security of keys and smartcards at all times. Promptly advise the alarm company of any changes to keyholders. Follow branch opening and closing procedures exactly to meet all contractual obligations. Attend alarm call outs as required.
- Understand the 3 year Healthcare business plan and be able to explain the plan and the reason why to the Branch Team. Direct branch activities to support achievement of budget in all areas and provide feedback on performance, and suggestions for improvement to the Healthcare team.

In addition, all employees are expected to work within the terms of their contract of employment and adhere to Society policies and procedures.
