About the Business
A leading manufacturer in Wigan is expanding its engineering team. With around 160 colleagues on site, the business has a strong culture of communication, teamwork, and clear leadership. Employees are encouraged to learn, develop, and progress — making this a workplace where engineering is more than “just a job”.
The Role
Due to growth and the introduction of new production lines, we’re looking for additional Engineers to join the team. This role is varied and fast-paced – in manufacturing there’s no “typical day”.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responding quickly to reactive maintenance issues to keep production running.
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) once urgent jobs are complete.
- Working closely with production and technical teams to deliver the best possible service.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.
- Contributing to a culture of communication, teamwork, and respect.
You’ll report to the Engineering Manager and be part of a hands-on, skilled team.
About You
We’re looking for time-served Engineers who have a real passion for engineering – ideally with experience in the food industry, though other backgrounds will be considered if you can show an interest in food manufacturing.
Essential qualities include:
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Enthusiasm for engineering as a vocation, not just a job.
- Ability to communicate well and adapt to different audiences.
- Respect for colleagues at all levels, especially production operatives.
- Willingness to learn, develop and take on new challenges.
Desirable:
- Food manufacturing experience.
- 18th Edition electrical qualification.
What’s on Offer
- Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience.
- Supportive team environment with clear leadership and communication.
- Opportunities to learn new skills and progress your career.
- Regular feedback and involvement in weekly engineering meetings.
- Statutory benefits (holidays, pension etc.).
Why Apply?
You’ll be joining a business with a clear direction, strong leadership, and a culture where your input is valued. You’ll always know what’s expected, your voice will be heard, and you’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills while working as part of a trusted and motivated team.
If you’re an Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to feel valued in your role, we’d love to hear from you.
