We're currently recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer to join a major heavy civils and tunnelling project, working on a fast-paced infrastructure scheme.

This is a long-term freelance role, suited to an engineer with extensive experience in heavy civils, tunnelling works, and deep excavations. The role operates on a 12-hour shift pattern, 7 days per week, so candidates must be comfortable with intensive site-based working.

Key Responsibilities:

Setting out and site engineering for complex civils and tunnelling operations

Managing QA, ITPs, and keeping detailed site records

*

Supporting the Section Engineer and site management team in delivering key milestones

*

Working closely with temporary works, structures, and tunnelling teams

*

Ensuring compliance with health & safety and environmental procedures

*

Coordinating subcontractors and supervising works on site

Requirements:

*

Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent

*

Proven experience on tunnelling, shaft sinking, or deep excavation projects

*

Proficient with GPS, Total Station, and AutoCAD

*

Valid CSCS (and ideally SSSTS or SMSTS)

*

Strong understanding of temporary works, structural sequencing, and civils best practice

*

Able to commit to a demanding site schedule
