I am working with a wonderful school located in Somerset who house approximately 180 boarders. They are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and empathetic Assistant Houseparent to join their highly committed boarding team. As a member of the resident house staff, you will undertake evening and wake-up duties providing appropriate pastoral support for those in your care.

The Role:

• Assist in the welfare of boarding students and provide high quality pastoral support

• Organise the basic routine of the house with support from other staff and prefects

• Actively support social and academic development of boarders

• Liaise with parents on all matters relating to boarders

• You will be expected to be residential during term time and accommodation and meals will be provided

You:

• Ability to work and communicate with young people

• Excellent organisational skills

• Personable and professional interpersonal skills

• Prior experience in a similar role is desired

• The desire and commitment to make a difference to young people’s lives and their experience of boarding

Salary: £22,000 GPA

There are opportunities for extra paid work in the school to supplement your salary, for example as a Supervisor in the Reflection Room / Behaviour Room during the day.

Hours: 43 hours per week, Monday to Sunday. During term time to be on duty three evenings per week (from 3.40pm to 11.00pm) and one full day each weekend (8.00am to 11.00pm). The evening duty will include being on-call overnight and undertaking wake-up duties the following morning (from 7.00 to 8.00am).
