We are seeking a Mixed Tax Manager to join the growing tax department of a leading mid-tier practice. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a tax professional with a strong background in tax compliance and advisory services to manage a diverse portfolio of clients.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide technical support and research in delivering tax services, liaising with the relevant Partner.
  • Prepare complex personal tax returns and undertake tax planning, projects, and compliance matters.
  • Delegate work effectively to assistants and trainees, review their work, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Apply technical knowledge in areas such as residency, ordinary residency, domicile, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, and the taxation of death estates and trusts.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of complete tax computations and returns for advanced jobs, dealing with all aspects of tax accounting.
  • Address tax issues affecting company owners, including cash extraction and business asset disposal relief.
  • Collaborate with the team to share knowledge and achieve team goals, coaching and developing others to build their tax knowledge.
  • Build a profile as a technical expert, develop a network of professional contacts, and attend events to enhance visibility.
  • Assist with marketing initiatives, write content for articles, and research specific topics as directed.
  • Identify opportunities to win new work in conjunction with Partners and engage positively with the business, advocating the firm’s values.
  • Take responsibility for personal and professional development, progressing learning and career progression.
  • Act with honesty, fairness, and integrity, respecting confidentiality and building trust with clients and team members.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Professionally qualified (e.g., ATT or CTA) and qualified by experience.
  • 10 - 12 years of experience in tax.
  • Strong technical and compliance knowledge with an area of expertise relevant to client portfolio.
  • Effective management of business risk and use of business tools.
  • Excellent communication, client handling, and relationship skills.
  • Awareness of financial targets and constraints and ability to seek innovative solutions.
  • Strong business acumen with good networking and rapport building skills.
  • Marketing and business development skills with a demonstrated effective management and leadership style.
