What you'll be doing as a Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller

Model Development and Calibration:
Lead the review, update, and calibration of complex Integrated Catchment Models (ICM), using a wide range of datasets. You will ensure models are robust, reliable, and suitable for informing key business decisions.

Field Investigation Oversight:
Plan and coordinate flow monitoring, asset surveys, and other field investigations. You will ensure high-quality data collection to support and validate modelling outputs.

Solution Development and Optioneering:
Apply modelling insights to identify, assess, and develop solutions that address current and future network challenges. You will contribute to the evaluation of investment options and performance improvements.

Project Management:
Take ownership of modelling projects from inception through to delivery. You will manage timelines, budgets, resources, and stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes aligned with technical and regulatory expectations.

Location: Hybrid working with a base in Reading
Working pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday (36 hours per week)

What you should bring to the role

A degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, or a related discipline
Strong hands-on experience with Infoworks ICM or similar wastewater modelling software
Proven experience in building, maintaining, and analysing complex hydraulic models, including optioneering
Experience working within, or alongside, a regulated water or wastewater environment
Solid understanding of wastewater network systems and asset performance
Excellent analytical, numerical, and report writing skills
Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to a range of stakeholders
A proactive, collaborative approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team

Desirable experience

Experience supporting regulatory investigations and long-term planning programmes within the water sector
Understanding of industry frameworks relating to storm overflows and environmental compliance
Experience contributing to strategic drainage and wastewater planning initiatives
Ability to mentor or support junior team members and contribute to technical development within a team
