£230 p/d PAYE or £298 p/d Umbrella / Deemed LTD (Inside IR35)
37 hours per week

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Disrepair Surveyor to join a large public sector housing team within a South West-based Local Authority. Working predominantly on-site, you will be responsible for managing housing condition complaints escalated via legal claims.
You will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality repair outcomes, working closely with tenants, contractors, and legal teams to ensure statutory and contractual responsibilities are met. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in tenants' homes across the city and have a strong grasp of responsive repairs, legal disrepair processes, and customer-first service delivery.

Responsibilities:
Lead on investigations for disrepair and housing condition claims, producing detailed reports for legal services and senior management.
Carry out site-based inspections and manage a caseload of disrepair cases, maintaining accurate records and photographic evidence.
Oversee repairs from instruction through to completion, ensuring contractors and trade teams deliver works to a high standard, on time and within budget.
Engage directly with tenants, providing regular updates and clear written communication to manage expectations.
Work in partnership with internal legal teams to reduce litigation and find early, fair resolutions through the Council's Internal Complaints Procedure (ICP).
Support court proceedings as required, acting as expert witness or providing technical insight.
Supervise a team of Response Repairs Surveyors, ensuring quality control, performance monitoring, and high standards of customer satisfaction.
Promote continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned from complaints and claim resolutions.
Contribute to policy development and uphold compliance with repairs legislation and housing standards.Requirements:
HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying, Construction, or related discipline.
Extensive experience working on disrepair/housing condition claims within a local authority or social housing provider.
Strong knowledge of relevant housing legislation, landlord repair obligations, and health and safety regulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience dealing with legal documentation and tenant correspondence.
Proven ability to manage works on-site, ensuring contractor compliance and tenant satisfaction.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle - regular site attendance required.Contact:
