SEN Teaching Assistant – SEMH Setting
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people who need it most? We’re looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) provision, supporting pupils who thrive with patience, structure, and consistency.
Role Overview
You’ll be working closely with pupils who benefit from tailored support to help them engage with learning and manage their emotional and behavioural needs. Your role will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and develop positive coping strategies
- Assisting teachers in delivering creative, engaging, and accessible lessons
- Building trusting relationships that encourage progress and resilience
- Maintaining a calm, consistent, and supportive environment
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN/SEMH needs (school, care, residential, youth work, or similar)
- A calm, resilient, and caring approach
- Strong behaviour-support skills and emotional sensitivity
- Ability to build rapport and act as a positive role model
- Someone committed, reliable, and ready to make an impact
