Job purpose:

You will manage and work hands-on with multiple development projects.

R&D team are responsible for the development of both products and manufacturing processes and you'll be expected to work on projects from both sides of the business.

You will have a Mechanical Engineering Degree preferably with some experience of metallurgy and advanced metallurgical coatings.

A good understanding of Microsoft office is essential.

You will be expected to become a subject matter expert (relating to all products passing through R&D) and as such, hold a key position within our Customer Support Group.

You will be a very good communicator at all levels and will be willing to travel abroad on occasion.

You will hold a full UK driving licence.

Principal duties & responsibilities:

* Manage multiple development projects

* Facilitate the manufacture of parts/ components, etc.

* Liaise with manufacturing to research new machining processes

* Manage development partners during and after development projects

* Be responsible for our Component Testing Program (Wear, Corrosion & Toughness)

* Provide technical support to Sales Team and Customers

* Write up all work instructions and quality control procedures relating to new processes / products

Essentials:

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering

* Mechanical Engineering Principles and Theories

* Planning & Organising —formulates plans following analytical decision making, prioritises workload and sets realistic timeframes and measures own progress

* Working to procedures — able to understand need for procedures and supports operations

* Team working— encourages and supports colleagues in the sharing of ideas and the solving of problems.

* Achieving Results — able to meet deadlines/ output requirements whilst maintaining high quality of work through attention to detail

Desired:

* Previous experience d eveloping new products and processes from concept through to implementation.

* 2 years experience of working as a development engineer within a research and development department.

* 2 years experience working as production engineer with direct responsibility for managing projects to establish efficieny gains

* Experience of working in a customer focussed role

* Metallurgical experience

* Physical/Chemical Vapour Deposition

* CAD literate

* Tablet tooling equipment and manufacturing process incl. terminology employed in Technical drawings

This role is commutable from Nottingham, Loughborough and Derby.
