Jackson Hogg Procurement division are excited to be partnering with a North Tyneside based manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Strategic Buyer to join their team on a full-time and permanent basis!

Salary on offer is £43-47k depending on experience.

In this role as Strategic Buyer, you will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of sourcing strategies across defined commodity areas, ensuring cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and supplier performance. Working cross-functionally, you will contribute to delivering value through effective supplier management, cost reduction initiatives and robust procurement process aligned to business objectives, while building the capability to progress in to a Commodity Leader role.

The Role

* Support the development and execution of commodity strategies aligned to business and purchasing objectives

* Manage sourcing activities within assigned commodity areas, ensuring cost, quality and delivery targets are met

* Lead supplier selection and negotiations for assigned projects, with support on complex strategic agreements

* Conduct supplier performance management, including KPI tracking, reviews, and development plans

* Support supplier risk assessments and contribute to mitigation strategies

* Deliver cost reduction and value improvement initiatives, including total cost analysis and savings tracking

* Support new product introduction (NPI) and engineering changes from a sourcing and cost perspective

* Collaborate with quality, engineering, and material control teams to ensure delivery, quality, and inventory targets are met

* Support inventory management and waste reduction in line with operational requirements

* Ensure accurate ERP system maintenance for all procurement activities

* Be willing to undertake regular travel to supplier and company sites, with flexibility to self-manage travel in line with personal commitments and business needs

The Person/Desired Requirements

* Proven experience within a within a medium to high volume manufacturing environment.

* MCIPS qualification or working towards.

* Strong understanding of strategic sourcing and commodity management

* Demonstrated experience in supplier negotiation, development and performance management

* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams

* Good understanding of quality system ISO 9001:2000 and supplier quality expectations.

* Proficient in Microsoft office tools and ERP systems

* Current driving license.
