Introduction to the Company

The business design and manufacture specialist equipment that helps people with complex needs live more independently at home.

The business has been established since the 1960s and remains family owned. The company employs around 100 people and generates roughly £20m turnover. Design and manufacturing are completed on site in Manchester, with procurement working closely with engineering and technical teams.

This role is will manage 1x Procurement Assistant and is perfectly suited to a Senior Buyer looking to take the step up into management.

You will have autonomy to identify and make improvements to processes, systems and the supplier base - really put your own stamp on this.

Role and Responsibilities

You will lead the procurement function and manage supplier performance, cost control, and planning across the business.

Key responsibilities include:

* Develop procurement strategies that support cost control and supply continuity.

* Source and onboard suppliers across the UK, Europe, and Far East.

* Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements.

* Manage supplier performance, returns, warranty claims, and delivery issues.

* Maintain accurate master data, stock codes, and planning data.

* Analyse procurement data using Excel (including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).

* Plan orders well in advance, with some product scheduling up to 12 months ahead.

* Work closely with engineering, operations, logistics, and finance.

* Support new product development through supplier sourcing and early costing.

* Review BOMs and support component changes or supplier transitions.

* Produce monthly procurement reporting and spend analysis.

* Manage one Procurement Assistant and oversee order placement.

The role manages an annual spend of approximately £6m-£8m.

Key Requirements (Qualifications and Skills)

* Minimum 3 years' procurement or supply chain experience.

* Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

* Strong supplier negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.

* Good data analysis capability and advanced Excel skills.

* Experience using procurement or ERP systems.

* Degree level education or equivalent.

* CIPS or CPP qualification desirable.

* Ability to read technical drawings (desirable).

* Willing to travel in the UK or overseas if required.

This role would suit a Senior Buyer ready to step into their first Procurement Manager position.
