Job Title: Night Shift Service Engineer

Job Summary:

A great opportunity is available for a Night Shift Service Engineer to join a busy depot operation in Durham. This role is suited to someone with mechanical or electrical experience who is confident working independently, especially during night shifts. The position follows a 4 on / 4 off shift pattern, offering a balanced work-life schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare equipment and machinery in the depot, ensuring readiness for hire
• Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently
• Operate a forklift truck (training can be provided if needed)
• Deliver and collect equipment and accessories from customer sites
• Assist engineers with on-site work, including installations and servicing
• Refuel equipment both on customer sites and at the depot
• Install and dismantle equipment as required on-site
• Maintain a clean and organised work environment
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report defects promptly
• Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and on time
• Keep any assigned vehicles clean, serviced, and roadworthy
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and materials are tracked and handled with proper documentation

Preferred Experience:

• Mechanical engineering or equipment maintenance: 1 year
• Experience with heavy plant machinery or similar equipment: 1 year
• Familiarity with generators (desirable but not essential)

Qualifications:

• Engineering apprenticeship or NVQ (or equivalent)
• City & Guilds certifications (preferred)
• Forklift truck licence (desirable – training can be provided)
• Electrical qualifications or skills (a plus)
