SEND 1:1 Tutor - Specialist Support Role

TeacherActive is currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEND 1:1 Tutor to support a pupil in Chelmsford, Essex, starting after the Easter break. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about providing personalised support to a young person with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

The role involves working closely with a student who requires individualised learning support outside of a traditional classroom environment. Your focus will be on building trust, encouraging engagement with learning, and supporting both academic progress and personal development.

The Role

As a SEND 1:1 Tutor, you will deliver tailored sessions designed to meet the individual needs of the student. You will adapt learning materials, provide structured support, and help the pupil build confidence and develop key skills at a pace that suits them.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 tailored tuition to support the student's individual learning needs

Plan and deliver engaging sessions suited to the pupil's ability and interests

Support the student with academic learning, emotional regulation, and engagement

Build a positive and supportive relationship to encourage participation

Monitor progress and provide feedback to the school and support team

Adapt teaching approaches to support the student's SEND requirements

The Ideal Candidate

Experience working with children or young people with SEND

A background in teaching, tutoring, teaching assistance, or specialist support

Patient, understanding, and able to build strong relationships with learners

Strong communication and organisational skills

Creative and flexible approach to delivering learning
