About NASGP

The National Association of Sessional GPs (NASGP) is the NHS's 'social heart' for sessional and portfolio clinicians. We support 2,500 active GP members within a 7,500-strong community and are connected to over half of England's GP practices. Working in partnership with Local Medical Committees, provider organisations, commissioners and connected to the Royal College of GPs, British Medical Association and NHS leads at the Department of Health. We advocate for the flexible community based clinical workforce, influence national policy and deliver digital and local workforce solutions.

Role Purpose

We're a small, driven core team with an NHS social heart and we need our first Head of Membership to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with us. You'll be a true team player, combining big-picture membership expertise with "get-it-done” oomph. No encyclopaedias of strategy here, just a one-page plan and the energy to roll up your sleeves.

You will own the end-to-end membership function: design and execute your strategy for recruitment, retention, engagement and sponsorship; streamline processes; deliver data-driven reports; and forge commercial partnerships that attract sessional clinicians from across the country. If you're an experienced membership professional who thinks strategically but thrives on tactical delivery, let's talk!

Key Responsibilities

1. Membership Strategy and Operations

Develop and deliver a 12-month membership strategy and plan with clear KPIs (growth, churn, NPS).

Oversee recruitment and renewal processes, including online joining/renewal functionality and reciprocal agreements.

Design and maintain membership grades, entry criteria and tiered benefits packages.

2. Member Value and Engagement

Own the Member Value Proposition: research, refine and report on benefits to maximise attraction, satisfaction and retention.

Plan and oversee peer-support forums, mentoring, webinars and events.

Manage member communications, including newsletters, social channels and website content.

3. Commercial Partnerships and Sponsorship

Create tiered sponsorship packages that align with member led values and sector goals.

Negotiate and close deals with industry partners and strategic stakeholders.

Design and deliver marketing and event's sponsor-integrated conferences and webinars.

4. Digital Platform Oversight

Partner with our platform Product Dev to optimise our member-bookings, leaky buckets and product member function.

Introduce commercial opportunities and engagement features via the platform.

5. Reporting, Compliance and Budget

Define, track and report on all membership metrics to the CEO and Board.

Ensure GDPR and HMRC (Gift Aid) compliance for member data and fees.

Own the membership function budget and contribute to business-plan forecasting.

6. Stakeholder and Team Leadership

Build and maintain strong relationships with decision makers and influencers.

Mentor our small team and manage any contractors.

Work cross-functionally with Product, Bus Dev, Comms, Finance and Operations.
