Payroll & Finance Officer (28 - 35 hours per week) 

This is an excellent opportunity for a Payroll professional to join a fantastic company on a part-time or full-time, permanent basis. Our client is looking to recruit a knowledgeable Finance and payroll professional to take ownership of the payroll, alongside other accounting tasks, working within a finance team of 6 and reporting to the College Accountant.

This role is available for a minimum of 28 - 35 hours per week, preferably worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday.

Payroll & Finance Officer Responsibilities

Responding to any payroll related queries
Preparing the monthly payroll
Administering any payroll changes such as SSP or SMP
Supporting with management accounts
Providing ad hoc general support to the finance team, as required

Payroll & Finance Officer Experience

You will be an experienced Payroll Officer or Payroll Manager with current and in-depth knowledge of all elements of payroll compliance, calculation, and processing. 

You will be an effective and highly organised candidate with superb interpersonal skills and have an ability to connect with people at all levels.  Your exceptional oral and written communication skills will be of huge importance as you explain new concepts and offer advice to colleagues with clarity and professionalism. 

Your CV will demonstrate the ability to hit the ground running - you will either be a qualified finance professional (either part or full) or qualified by experience.

In this crucial role, you will be able to escalate any problems and use your initiative to work effectively, supporting across other areas of finance such as purchase ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliations and development accounting. Previous experience of Accurate Payroll Solutions and Great Plains software would be advantageous.


The client is based in central Oxford, OX1. There is no available parking onsite, however there are excellent public transport links.

This is a fully office-based role and so please ensure you are comfortable and able to commute to Oxford 4-5 days a week before applying. There could be an opportunity to request flexible working once settled in the role, to allow 1-2 days a week working from home, subject to the Manager's discretion.
