Salary: £75.00 per hour

Location: Liverpool City Council

Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: 4 months

Pay: £75.00 per hour (via umbrella)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a team of Building Control Officers and Plan Examiners to ensure Building Regulation compliance.
  • Provide technical and operational support to the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Oversee implementation and monitoring of council policies, performance metrics, and service delivery standards.
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Act, Building Safety Act 2022, and associated legislation.
  • Engage in inspections, including high-risk and major developments, dangerous structures, and sports ground safety enforcement.
  • Represent the council in court, inquiries, and public meetings as required.
  • Lead policy development and strategic planning in collaboration with the Head of Building Control.
  • Monitor team performance, competency levels, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee quote preparation, service level agreements, and financial monitoring for building projects.
Who We’re Looking For:
  • An experienced Building Control professional with proven leadership ability.
  • Strong knowledge of the Building Regulations, safety legislation, and enforcement practices.
  • Experience liaising with multi-disciplinary teams, regulators, and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage inspections, enforcement, complex submissions, and emergency responses.
  • Registered at an appropriate competency banding under the Building Safety Regulator framework.

  • Principal Building Control Officers (Site & Assessment)
  • General Building Control Officers
  • Trainee and Apprentice Building Control Officers
