🔹 About the Role

Barnet Council is seeking experienced Senior Social Workers / Advanced Practitioners to join the Intervention & Planning Team within Family Services. This is a vital frontline position working with vulnerable children and families to deliver high-quality assessments, safeguarding interventions, and structured planning.

You will manage a complex caseload, lead on Child in Need, Child Protection and Court Work, and contribute to improving outcomes for children across the borough.

🔹 Key Requirements (Mandatory)

To be shortlisted, you must have:

*

Minimum 3 years' experience in a permanent qualified social work role

*

Extensive Court Work experience

*

Experience in Child Protection

*

Experience working with Child in Need (CIN)

*

Social Work England Registration

*

Enhanced DBS

*

Full UK Driving Licence

*

Valid MOT & Car Insurance (Business Use)

*

Eligibility to work in the UK

*

5 years of references / full work history

*

Completion of all Barnet-required compliance documents:

*

Barnet Screening Questions

*

Confidentiality Agreement

*

DfE Declaration

🔹 Responsibilities

*

Manage complex caseloads involving CIN, CP, and Court cases

*

Complete high-quality assessments, care plans, and reports

*

Lead safeguarding interventions to protect children at risk

*

Prepare Court statements and provide evidence in legal proceedings

*

Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners

*

Ensure compliance with statutory responsibilities and best practice standards

*

Maintain accurate, timely case recordings

*

Participate in team meetings, reflective supervision, and service planning

🔹 Ideal Candidate

You will be:

Confident in managing risk and making robust safeguarding decisions

*

Skilled in writing clear, analytical reports and Court documentation

*

Experienced in direct work with children and families

*

Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines

*

A strong team player with excellent communication skills
