Our client is a successful main contractor based in Essex. The company work predominantly within the commercial and residential sector. They are currently searching for an experienced Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their small commercial team. The position has come about due to organic growth and a full order book. They are looking for a hands on quantity surveyor who has good knowledge of JCT contracts and can work effectively with sub contractors and clients. Project values range from £1 million to £15 million.

ROLE:

* Reviewing pre-contract documentation and familiarising yourself with Contract obligations and timetables

* Working with colleagues to review design development to ensure economic design solutions that meet Client expectations and budget.

* Notifying variations where applicable for recovery and achieving Employer instructions with agreed costs.

* Working with material procurement colleagues to ensure timely delivery to site / factory and complimentary package allocation to subcontractors.

* Manage the subcontract procurement process - preparation of procurement schedules, tender packages, tender reconciliations and subcontract documents.

* Analysis of sub-contract scope, tender quotations, and cost negotiation.

* Ensure the preparation and agreement of all monthly project interim valuations and final account, including site visits as necessary.

* Measurement from drawings (and on site where required) to prepare, negotiate and agree subcontractor variations.

* Comply with strict process and contractual requirements for instructions, change notices, and formal contractual notices as required.

* Recognise potential contractual issues on site and make good records including photographs and written statements to protect the company's interests.

* Prepare and ensure sub-contract accounts are managed within budget and sub-contracts / final accounts are signed and agreed in a timely manner.

* Ensure the collation commercial information for Cost Value Reconciliations on a monthly basis to deadlines.

* Attendance at client's monthly project progress meetings where required.

* Analysis of project costs to feedback to the Estimators on a regular basis.

CANDIDATE:

* BSc (Hons) Construction Management / Quantity Surveying Degree / HNC/HNC

* CSCS Qualified

* Min 3 - 5 years post qualification experience

* Full driving licence
