Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a leading integrated placemaking consultancy in their search for a Senior Town Planner to join their growing Planning Team based in Cardiff.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take on a key role within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, working with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients including education providers, healthcare organisations, developers, and housebuilders.

The Role

As a Senior Town Planner, you will take the lead on a broad range of projects across the planning process, including:

  • Residential developments

  • Commercial schemes

  • Education and healthcare projects

  • Mixed-use regeneration

  • Energy and infrastructure developments

  • Industrial projects

You will work closely with in-house urban design and landscape teams to deliver planning strategies that not only meet policy requirements but also contribute to the creation of sustainable, high-quality places.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals

  • Managing planning projects from inception through to determination

  • Undertaking site appraisals and development feasibility studies

  • Preparing high-quality planning statements and reports

  • Liaising with Local Planning Authorities, stakeholders, and consultants

  • Attending client meetings and site visits

  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the planning team

  • Contributing to planning strategy and project delivery

Candidate Requirements
  • Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline

  • MRTPI Chartered or working towards Chartership

  • Strong understanding of the UK planning system

  • Demonstrable experience managing planning applications

  • Excellent project management and report writing skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

  • Proactive approach within a client-focused consultancy environment
