Term Time Only (c32 Weeks per annum) - Working 6 days per week
Mon-Sat inclusive or term time job share considered
Monday-Fridays:-
Mornings: 6am-8.30am (starting from school at 6am, bringing pupils back into school for 8.15am)
Afternoons: 4pm-6pm approx.
Late Run: 6pm onwards (usually 1 evening per week only with some flexibility required)
Saturdays:-
Mornings: 6am-8.30am (starting from school at 6am, bringing pupils back into school for 8.15am)
Lunchtime: 12.30pm-3pm
Note: All start times are fixed and all journey times are, by nature, traffic dependent, but timings given are the usual duration for each run
Our client is looking to recruit a School Bus Driver (Term Time Only). Many of the pupils are based in London and so you will be providing a bus service to bring them to and from school.
The school bus drivers drive a school minibus for the morning, afternoon or evening runs on a rota as required. The school currently runs services for Brook Green, Chiswick, Notting Hill and locally and Junction 4 M40, Handy Cross, Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross.
Drivers may be required to act as a chaperone from time to time and will be required to drive on different routes as necessary.
Each driver is issued with a uniform which should be worn at all times on duty and kept clean and tidy. Drivers are also issued with mobile phones, medical boxes for emergencies and an emergency snack box for the pupils.
Responsibilities:
* Reporting any incidents or problems with children's behaviour to the school promptly (being trained in the safeguarding policy and reporting procedures is essential)
* Reporting any vehicle, satnav or other equipment issues to the Bursary immediately
* Ensuring the vehicle has sufficient fuel for each journey (fuel cards are issued for this purpose)
* Head-counting pupils on and off the bus, noting any who are missing and checking with parents and/or the school in advance notice if absence has not been given
* Ensuring all pupils are safely seated and wearing seatbelts before the journey begins and throughout the journey
* Ensuring luggage is stored safely and securely
* Ensuring all aisles and exits are clear during the journey
* Only using mobile phones in case of an emergency or contact with the school and parents
* Speaking firmly and clearly with pupils who are misbehaving with a firm but fair approach
* Listening to complaints from the pupils and reacting accordingly
* Zero tolerance of any behaviour from the pupils which is loud or distracting
* Reporting to the School Office after each journey any incidents or problems by email on in person (the log of all incidents is kept in the School Office and is an essential requirements to keep this up-to-date daily)
* Attending departmental meetings, usually at the start and end of each term, as notified
* From time to time, or for the supervision of specific pupils as necessary, there will be a companion or chaperone accompanying the bus drive on particular routes. The chaperone's role will be to assist the drive in all of the above, both working closely in co-operation with each other
* Undertaking such other duties as agreed to be in keeping with the general nature of the job
Special Requirements:
* Experience working with children in school age range (7 to 13 years)
* D1 driving licence (if licence issued after 1997)
* Good communication skills - clear and accurate with pupils/parents/colleagues
* Ability to be assertive to establish/maintain good discipline of the pupils
* Patience with the ability to keep calm
* Ability to work morning/afternoon/evening school runs
* Previous work with school age children in a supervisory capacity (desirable)
* Full clean driving licence (desirable)
* First Aid Certificate (desirable)

£26,570K (pro-rata) per annum - based on 28 hours per week
