A welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Runcorn is looking to appoint a committed and proactive Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team. This is a full-time position with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

As an HLTA, you will play a key part in supporting students with a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). You’ll work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality classroom support, deliver targeted interventions, and help students develop both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with SEND across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Plan and deliver tailored small group and 1:1 intervention sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers to prepare and deliver engaging activities and lessons.
  • Provide encouragement, emotional support, and pastoral care to help students engage in their learning.
  • Adjust support strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe school environment.
What We’re Looking For
  • HLTA status or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience supporting students with SEND in a school environment.
  • Ability to build strong, supportive, and trusting relationships with young people.
  • Confidence leading small groups and delivering planned interventions.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and parents/carers.
  • Calm, patient, and supportive approach when managing challenges.
  • Motivational and encouraging attitude, with the ability to help students achieve their potential.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work using your own initiative.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
