Owner's Engineer - Grid Connection (HV Substation)

Contract: 3 Months (Extendable)

Location: South East UK (Site presence required during commissioning)

Day Rate: Competitive - Outside IR35

We are supporting a client on a high voltage grid infrastructure project in the South East of England which is approaching the final construction and commissioning phase.

They are seeking an experienced Owner's Engineer to provide independent technical oversight of the grid connection works and associated technical due diligence, ensuring the project is ready for connection and energisation.

Key Responsibilities

* Act as the Owner's technical representative during the final stages of the project.

* Provide oversight of grid connection infrastructure and commissioning activities.

* Carry out technical due diligence on electrical infrastructure, reviewing key documentation and engineering deliverables.

* Review commissioning procedures, protection testing plans and energisation documentation.

* Assess as-built drawings, protection settings and technical submissions related to the grid connection.

* Witness and review critical commissioning and testing activities where required.

* Ensure compliance with relevant grid code and network operator requirements.

* Identify and report technical risks, defects or compliance issues ahead of grid connection.

* Provide technical reporting and assurance to the project owner regarding commissioning readiness.

Experience Required

* Experience working on HV substation projects (132kV preferred).

* Proven experience with grid connection projects and electrical infrastructure commissioning.

* Experience performing technical due diligence or engineering review on power infrastructure projects.

* Strong understanding of protection & control systems, transformers, switchgear and SCADA.

* Familiarity with UK grid code / DNO requirements.

* Previous experience acting as Owner's Engineer, Grid Engineer, Independent Engineer or HV Commissioning Engineer.
