Hotshot Paralegal

Saint Petersburg, USA

Job Description

Contemporary Law Firm Serving Professionals and Creative Entrepreneurs Seeks HOTSHOT Paralegal/Legal Assistant

July 21, 2018

The Opportunity: Thrive Law, P.A. is hiring a full-time paralegal. We are a growing business, employment, and intellectual property firm in St. Petersburg, Florida whose mission is to help professionals and creative entrepreneurs launch, grow, and protect their businesses and creative ideas. Our cases involve business and employment litigation, entity formation and governance, business and employment transactions and contract drafting, and copyright and trademark matters. Our goal is to provide the same top-tier legal services typically enjoyed only by mega-corporations to small and mid-size creative businesses and professionals.

The Paralegal performs substantive billable legal work under the direction of one or more attorneys. The Paralegal’s primary goal is to relieve the attorneys he or she works for of a portion of the legal tasks involved each case so the attorneys can focus on more substantive and strategic tasks.

The Paralegal is in charge of case management, tracking case deadlines, coordinating depositions and court appearances, and managing discovery. The paralegal is also responsible for assisting the Firm ’s lawyers by researching legal precedent, investigating facts, and preparing legal documents. The paralegal may also be asked to conduct research to support a legal proceeding, to formulate a defense, or to initiate legal action, assisting the attorneys to prepare for hearings, and depositions, interacting with clients and providing client status updates on a scheduled basis. Additionally, the Paralegal contributes regularly to the development of the Firm’s policies and procedures that affect the paralegal role.

Qualifications: The Paralegal has an associate’s or bachelor’s degree and ideally is a certified paralegal in the State of Florida. The job requires 1-3 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in the areas of litigation or intellectual property, and high-level organizational skills. We don’t simply want someone who can tell us in an interview he or she is organized, but rather, someone who can prove to us he or she is organized-and disciplined about it. Ability to follow instructions precisely and execute tasks consistently are essential parts of the job.

The most important qualifications are that you are detail-oriented, proactive, thorough, efficient, positive, and calm. Our professional and creative business clients usually call us with serious or frustrating matters, and you are their primary point of contact. We need your communication-oral and written-to engender client confidence by being refined, precise, enthusiastic and positive. The paralegal must be protective of our clients and our staff, and have good intuition. Great coping skills are a must. We are looking for someone who is self-contained and emotionally mature. If drama seems to follow you wherever you go, you need not apply. We need someone whose goal is to increase our office efficiency and ensure things run optimally. It is more important to us that you have the skills for the job than that you are passionate about our practice area.

Our firm handles misappropriation of trade secret, enforcement of non-compete, and copyright and trademark infringement cases that often have an enormous impact on our clients’ bottom lines and professional reputations. Confidentiality and discretion are conditions of employment.

Desired start date: September 1, 2018. Salary commensurate with your experience, plus monthly performance bonuses. Benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, 401K and life insurance.

How to apply: Please submit your resume and cover letter to #removed# by following these instructions:

In the subject line of your email, please type the first 3 letters of your first name followed by the first 3 letters of your last name. Leave no spaces between these 6 letters.

Capitalize the 1st and 4th letters. Following this 6-letter code, leave one space, then enter the following three words exactly as they appear: Office Assistant app [Example: the email subject line for applicant Jane Smith would be JanSmi Office Assistant app]
