Finance Manager

About the Company & Role
The company sits within the manufacturing sector, and specialises in the production of a range of bespoke, high-end products and services to the commercial catering sector.
This role sits at the top of their finance department, and is a mix of month-end reporting, strategic analysis, and financial insight delivery to Directors, as well as getting involved with the daily operations such as bank recs, VAT, cashflow, and management accounts - so it is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys owning the finance function and having a hands-on impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations in a timely manner, ensuring all transactions are accurately allocated and fully understood.
- Produce weekly and monthly management reports to support informed decision-making.
- Prepare and process bank payment runs, including full reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate ledgers in Sage for both management accounts and statutory reporting requirements.
- Oversee and support the bookkeeper, ensuring day-to-day transactional work is completed accurately and in line with deadlines.
- Manage credit control activities, including debtor chasing, resolving outstanding queries, and escalating issues when required to ensure timely collection.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines.
- Process creditor payments promptly while actively managing daily cashflow requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams to resolve credit control matters, reduce debtor days, and support strong working capital performance.
- Support Directors with month-end reporting, analysis, and ad-hoc finance tasks.
- Ensure Sage 50 is kept accurate and up to date with timely financial information
Candidate Requirements
- Experience in a similar role.
- Advanced Excel and Sage experience.
- Confident managing daily finance operations and month-end processes.
- Strong bank reconciliations, ledgers, VAT returns, cash flow management, and credit control skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Able to communicate clearly with directors and non-finance teams.
- AAT Level 4, part-qualified CIMA / ACCA or QBE.
