Maintenance Engineer

This highly respected FMCG business has a long and respected history here in the UK. With their current expansion in place there is a need to increase the already successful engineering team. The Industrial Engineer will support the Engineering Manager in delivering the department's daily operations, ensuring optimal plant performance, effective maintenance activities, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Actively participate in completing assigned Planned Maintenance (PMs) to ensure departmental KPIs are achieved.

* Communicate breakdowns, repairs, and engineering activities clearly via verbal updates, email, and Engineering shift reports.

* Perform mechanical and electrical system repairs in a timely and effective manner.

* Identify opportunities to improve PM tasks and implement enhancements to increase maintenance effectiveness.

* Build and maintain strong working relationships with Production Engineering, Engineering Administration, and Stores teams.

* Identify efficiency improvements and operational opportunities across the plant to enhance overall productivity.

* Ensure all company procedures, legislation, and best working practices are adhered to at all times.

* Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and communicate issue updates and repair completion to requestors.

* Complete thorough daily handovers to ensure site issues and ongoing activities are accurately captured and visible to the Industrial Engineering team.

Skills & Experience Required

* Experience with electrical/mechanical installations and working knowledge of:

1. Ammonia compressors

2. Refrigeration plant

3. Glycol plant chillers

4. Cooling towers

5. Air compressors

6. Pumps and motors

7. Industrial boilers

* Formal qualifications in one or more of the above technical disciplines (mandatory). Training can be provided as required.

* Minimum 5+ years' experience in FMCG or equivalent environments.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear fault descriptions, updates, and repair summaries.

* Proven ability to complete breakdowns and planned repairs effectively and within designated time frames.

* Competence in completing PMs that add value and improve reliability.

* Familiarity with databases, permit-to-work systems, work order requests, work orders, and stores processes.

* Ability to engage with colleagues, discuss issues, and provide/receive constructive feedback.

* Basic welding skills are an advantage
