We are currently recruiting for a full-time Payroll & Bookkeeping Assistant to join a busy and growing accountancy practice. This is a varied role offering a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across both payroll and bookkeeping within a fast-paced environment.

You will play a key role in supporting both functions, working with a range of clients and ensuring all work is completed accurately and within strict deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Duties:

  • Processing weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls
  • Ensuring all payroll information is accurate and submitted on time
  • Handling Real Time Information (RTI) submissions to HMRC
  • Managing payroll queries
  • Maintaining accurate payroll records
  • Processing CIS returns and dealing with related queries

Bookkeeping Duties:

  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices
  • Completing bank reconciliations
  • Assisting with VAT returns
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts

About You

  • Previous experience in payroll and/or bookkeeping
  • Experience with CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) is highly desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • Confident using accounting and payroll software
  • A proactive and adaptable approach
