Our client are seeking an experienced and compassionate Social Worker to lead and manage a team supporting young adults transitioning out of the care system. This role combines direct work with care leavers aged 16 to 25 and the management of a multidisciplinary team of up to 10 professionals. The successful candidate will be passionate about promoting independence, stability, and positive futures for young adults, and skilled in overseeing service delivery within a complex safeguarding environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide casework support to young adults leaving care, focusing on housing, education, employment, emotional wellbeing, and life skills.

*

Develop and implement individual Pathway Plans in collaboration with each young person, in accordance with statutory guidelines.

*

Manage and supervise a team of up to 10 social workers, personal advisors, and support staff.

*

Ensure team performance and service delivery meets legal, ethical, and professional standards.

*

Offer reflective supervision, mentoring, and support to team members.

*

Liaise with external agencies (e.g. housing providers, health services, educational institutions) to coordinate multi-agency support.

*

Monitor outcomes and report on service effectiveness to senior leadership.

*

Lead team meetings and contribute to service development initiatives.

*

Respond to safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.

*

Stay current with legislation and best practice related to care leavers and young people's services.

Essential Criteria:

*

Degree in Social Work and registration with [relevant governing body, e.g. Social Work England].

*

Proven experience working with care leavers or within children's/young people's services.

*

Demonstrable management or team leadership experience in a social care setting.

*

Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and the Children and Social Work Act 2017.

*

Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills.

*

Commitment to anti-oppressive practice and inclusive service delivery.

Desirable Criteria:

*

Experience of leading service improvement projects.

*

Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches and youth empowerment models.

Experience working with unaccompanied asylum-seeking children or young people with complex needs
