Caretaker (Full-Time, 8am–4pm)

Reed Education are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school in the local area for a full-time School Caretaker. About the Role

As a School Caretaker, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the school building and grounds. Duties include:

• Opening and locking the school site each day
• Maintaining the site’s security, safety and cleanliness
• Carrying out minor repairs, DIY tasks and general maintenance
• Conducting daily walk-around checks and completing compliance logs
• Supporting with deliveries, porterage and the movement of furniture/equipment
• Managing seasonal tasks such as gritting, leaf clearing or snow removal
• Ensuring playgrounds, pathways and communal areas are safe for pupils and staff
• Liaising with contractors and supporting on-site works
• Assisting staff with any premises-related requests
• Supporting cleaning duties when required

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience in premises, caretaker, estates or facilities roles
• Good working knowledge of health & safety and safe working practices
• Confidence using basic tools and completing DIY/repair tasks
• Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
• Ability to work independently and follow school procedures
• Strong communication skills and a helpful, positive attitude
• Experience supervising contractors (advantageous but not essential)
• A commitment to maintaining a safe environment for pupils
