Position Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
The Senior Writer oversees all copy projects from conception to delivery, including all sales, marketing, social media, online and business content. Their focus is to create engagement, motivate sales and develop client brands through the power of written communication. In addition to writing original pieces, they must direct and lead freelance writers to create and execute all necessary copy projects.
Ensure all content is appropriately branded, consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice
Tailor brand voice to appropriate audiences and ministry brands
Optimize copy for user experience across all content channels
Develop relationships to curate a team of guest writers, bloggers, and travel experts
Foster new business partnerships to get our content on their social feeds & websites
Assist in the steering of web marketing, SEO and social media strategies
Oversee all content creation
Write original copy 60% of the time, oversee other/outside team members 30-35% of the time
Research related content for implementation into marketing and communications
Help develop new sales communications and strategies
Oversee all writers, editors, and proofers (internal and outsourced)
Be an arbiter of consistent standards and best practices and consistency in all messages
Conduct ongoing audits to gauge content effectiveness
Organize and maintain content storage system inside Google Drive
Institute annual content reviewing process
Proof and edit all created content before implementation
Coordinate responses to online comments, posts, tweets, and questions
Ability to craft words to unique audiences for the purposes of sales and brand recognition
Project management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
Actively engage in strategic thinking, deductive reasoning and problem solving
Familiarity with principles of modern marketing
Ability to work in a team environment
Able to lead peers in the accomplishment of work
Demonstrate initiative and critical thinking skills
Strong organizational skills and work ethic
Ability to follow through on verbal and written instructions
Expertise in Google & Microsoft Documents
Proficiency in PC and Mac preferred
College courses in journalism, English, communication or related field preferred
5+ years of related work experience
High School Diploma
Supervision Received: This position is under the direct supervision of the owners while collaborating with other members of the team.
Supervision Given: This position supervises the freelance writers and provides information and guidance to co-workers in order to achieve the goals of the company.
