Job Title: Workshop Supervisor
Location: Newark-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire
Reporting to: Production Manager

Overview:

Our client, a respected timber manufacturing company based near Newark-on-Trent, is looking to appoint a Workshop Supervisor to take on a hands-on leadership role at the heart of their production facility.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong woodworking experience who enjoys leading a team and ensuring high standards of craftsmanship. You'll be supported by senior management and play a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the workshop.

Key Responsibilities:

* Oversee the daily activities of the timber workshop.

* Lead and support a small team of wood craftsmen, machinists, and apprentices.

* Organise workloads to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.

* Monitor quality control and ensure all finished work meets the company's high standards.

* Provide hands-on assistance with production when necessary.

* Ensure the team adheres to health and safety procedures and equipment is used correctly.

* Help train and mentor junior staff, including apprentices.

* Coordinate with the design and purchasing/logistics teams to ensure drawings and materials are accurate and available.

* Report any machinery issues promptly and assist with basic maintenance or escalation.

* Track production progress and keep the Production Manager informed of any developments.

Essential Requirements:

* Significant experience working in a workshop environment.

* Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to motivate and guide a small team.

* Proficiency in the use of timber machinery and traditional joinery techniques.

* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings accurately.

* Organised, dependable, and highly safety-conscious.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00 per year
