This is a great opportunity for a compassionate, resilient and dedicated individual to join a warm, highly specialist school supporting children and young people aged 2-19 with a wide range of special educational needs, profound and multiple learning disabilities, and life-limiting conditions.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils' learning, communication, personal care and wellbeing. Working closely with teachers, therapists and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will help create a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where every pupil can thrive.

Contract Details

Location: Poole

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Type of Work: Classroom-based SEN support within a specialist school

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, Monday-Friday, temp-to-perm

Pay: £14.96 per hour

Hours: 08:45 - 15:30

Experience, Training and Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (school, care, residential or community settings)
  • Understanding of PMLD, complex needs, communication difficulties or sensory needs
  • GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths
  • Confident using basic IT systems and able to follow learning plans
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships
  • High levels of professionalism, empathy and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to changing needs
  • Understanding of safeguarding, equality and data protection principles
