Company: Leading Multidisciplinary ConsultancyWe are partnering with a well-established, growing consultancy in Bristol to recruit a Building Physics Team Lead. This is a prime opportunity for a technically strong, forward-thinking professional to step into a pivotal leadership role, shaping and growing the Building Physics offering within a respected MEP team.
The RoleThis position combines technical expertise with leadership. You will:
- Lead and deliver high-quality building physics assessments, including SAP, SBEM, Level 5 dynamic thermal modelling, thermal comfort studies, daylight/sunlight analysis, and in-use energy simulations.
- Produce and lodge EPCs and BRUKL documentation.
- Advise on design strategies to meet performance targets while considering practical implementation and cost implications.
- Develop and maintain efficient systems for data exchange, QA, and reporting.
- Act as a key technical advisor to clients, contractors, and design teams.
- Stay updated on regulations, standards, and emerging technologies.
- Support knowledge sharing and collaboration across teams.
- Lead the growth of the Building Physics team, including recruitment, mentoring, and team development.
- Contribute to business development and help secure new projects.
About YouWe are looking for a dynamic and confident professional who thrives both independently and within a team. You will have:
Essential Skills & Experience: - Strong experience in: SAP, SBEM, Level 5 dynamic simulations, TM54, TM52, TM59, Part O compliance, daylight analysis (DF, VSC), and commercial EPC production/lodging.
- Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Practical knowledge of low carbon and sustainable design strategies.
- Experience mentoring or training junior engineers.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with a collaborative, proactive approach.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and fluency in English.
- Willingness to travel for site surveys.
Desirable Skills & Experience: - Experience in residential, commercial, education, or leisure sectors.
- Knowledge of thermal bridging assessments.
- Interest in business development, tender writing, or bidding.
- Working toward Chartership or professional registration.
- Experience with IES, TAS, Design Builder, and design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications - Degree in a built environment-related discipline (postgraduate qualification preferred).
- Proven consultancy experience delivering building physics assessments.
